Learn More About the Four Key Markers

1. FASTING GLUCOSE & 2. HbA1c

These are measures of our blood sugar regulation. These are surprisingly important factors in healthy immune response because higher sugar levels are a cause of inflammation in the body, and elevated sugar can weaken our defenses and make us more susceptible to infection.

Measuring HbA1c provides information about your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months, while measuring fasting glucose provides information about your blood sugar levels at the time of testing and gives us information on your body’s ability to manage and respond to your sugar and glucose intake.

As either of these measures rise, we gain important information about the state of your metabolism and risk of progression towards Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes. The important thing is that this is not a oneway street. Blood sugar abnormalities are reversible with easy food changes to match what you eat to your unique physiology.

3. VITAMIN D

Vitamin D is known to be produced by exposure of our skin to sunlight. It is also one of the most important and powerful nutrients for supporting the immune system (as well as bone health). Numerous studies have shown that Vitamin D helps reduce the risk of colds and flu.

Many people have levels of Vitamin D that are too low to support optimal immune function. For optimal immune function, Vitamin D3 levels should be above 50 – considerably higher than the typical reference range used to support bone health.

Low Vitamin D levels are easily corrected with supplementation to match your need.

4. hs-CRP (HIGH SENSITIVITY C-REACTIVE PROTEIN)

hs-CRP is a marker of inflammation in the body. It is produced by the liver in response to all the things in the blood that pass through the liver filter.

Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response and is an important part of healing from an illness or injury. But too much inflammation, or chronic, ongoing inflammation from poor diet, stress, poor sleep, or other exposures is a problem that negatively impacts our immune system health.

Inflammation anywhere in the body can cause elevation of hs-CRP, and it is a very sensitive measure that can tell us we need to take steps to protect our cells and tissues from ongoing damage. While there are a wide variety of factors that can contribute to inflammation, many of them are related to our nutrition and lifestyle preferences which makes addressing those all the more powerful in restoring immune health.

One Test. Huge Benefits.

Our test measures both fasting glucose and HbA1c (Hemoglobin A1c) in order to provide information regarding your blood sugar regulation.

This test also measures your overall inflammation with hs-CRP (High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein).

The final biomarker measured is the 25-hydroxyvitamin D test which is the best way to screen for, and monitor vitamin D levels.
